Sweet Balsamic Vinaigrette

Sweet Balsamic Vinaigrette

A twist on the regular oil and vinegar combo, this version is deliciously sweet but still has the perfect balance of the balsamic vinegars tangy acidity to the EVOO’s richness and fullness with some simple spices and herbs and a dash of sugar to sweeten it up. Made with only 7 ingredients! Most of which I am sure are already in your pantry. This sweet balsamic vinaigrette comes together quickly and can serve many purposes. It can be used as a salad dressing, perfect as a meat or vegetable marinade, drizzled over cooked skewers, or even used on sandwiches, the options are endless. Although with how delicious this sweet balsamic vinaigrette is, it might not last very long!

Store bought salad dressings are often filled with harmful preservatives, can contain excessive levels of sodium, and contain other less than ideal harmful ingredients. Why sabotage your salad when you can make this easy homemade vinaigrette instead. Most of these ingredients can be found in your pantry. Adjust the seasonings to your liking, and enjoy in a multitude of ways. My favorite is simply as a salad dressing or drizzled over fresh tomatoes when in season with some mozzarella and basil. It also adds a nice tang and acidity to a hoagie sandwich if you’re in the mood for one! Try this simple sweet balsamic vinaigrette dressing out and be amazed at all the wonderful uses you can come up with.

To help reduce, reuse, recycle, this is a perfect opportunity to use an old glass jar or reuse a previous salad dressing container to store the finished vinaigrette. Due to the acidity in the vinegar there is no need to refrigerate this dressing. However if you add anything like fresh garlic instead of garlic powder, or take any liberties in adding fresh herbs to season to your taste, then yes absolutely it needs to be refrigerated! Keep in mind the oil and vinegar will separate if it gets cool enough, so let it thaw  on the counter for 5-10 minutes and shake vigorously. This should keep for about a month, however it never seems to make it that long in our home due to its versatility.
